Submerged Arc Welding flux SJ-501 A

Submerged Arc Welding Flux SJ-501 A is a high-performance agglomerated aluminum-rutile type acid sintered flux with a basicity index of approximately 0.5-0.93 and a particle size of 10-60 mesh (about 0.3-2.0mm). It is specially designed for low-alloy steels and high-strength steels (such as ASTM A514, A517), supporting single-wire or multi-wire high-speed welding (up to 100m/h), and is suitable for applications such as small cylinders, LPG tanks, pressure vessels, and shipbuilding. This flux complies with the standards of EN760 SA AR 1 88 AC H5 and AWS A5.17/5.23 F7A0-EL12, providing stable arc, excellent slag detachability, smooth weld seams, and resistance to cracks and pores. It is not sensitive to surface rust and scale, ensuring efficient welding quality and excellent mechanical properties, such as high impact toughness and tensile strength.

Product Description

Submerged Arc Welding Flux SJ-501 A is an active flux developed specifically for the Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) process, suitable for welding low-carbon steel, low-alloy steel, and high-strength steel. The following are its detailed specifications, performance, and applications, optimized based on industry standards and competing products (such as ESAB OK 10.81, Lincoln 761) to provide the highest welding efficiency and quality.

Basic Specifications

• Type: Aluminum-Titanium Rutile Type Agglomerated Flux, an active flux that provides good molten pool control and arc stability.

• Basicity Index: 0.5-0.93 (neutral to slightly acidic, ensuring a balance in the mechanical properties of the weld seam, suitable for high-strength applications).

• Grain Size: 10-60 mesh (approximately 0.3-2.0mm), uniform round particles, facilitating uniform melting and storage.

• Appearance and Density: Gray round particles with a moderate bulk density (1.0-1.3 g/cm³), easy to transport and use.

• Chemical Composition: SiO₂ + TiO₂: 25-35%; Al₂O₃ + MnO: 35-45%; CaO + MgO: 5-15%; CaF₂: 5-15%; low other impurities, ensuring purity and stability.

• Compatible Wires: H08A, H08MnA, H08MnMo, H10MnSi, EL12, EM12K, etc., supporting alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) power sources (with the wire connected to the positive electrode in DC mode).

• Welding Speed: Supports high-speed welding, up to 70m/h, suitable for single-wire, multi-wire, or tandem operations.

• Standard Compliance: EN760 SA AR 1 88 AC H5; AWS A5.17/5.23 F7A0-EL12, F7A2-EM12K.

• Application Fields: Widely used in heavy structural welding, shipbuilding, bridge manufacturing, pressure vessels, small cylinders (such as LPG tanks), and gas-shielded welding. Particularly suitable for low-alloy high-strength steels (such as ASTM A514, A517), ensuring the toughness and strength of the weld seam in low-temperature or high-stress environments.

Performance Features

• Welding Performance: Stable arc, reduced spatter and fumes, improving operational safety and environmental friendliness. Good molten pool fluidity, supporting high-current welding.

• Weld Quality: The weld surface is uniform and smooth, with easy slag removal (Insensitive to Rust and Mill Scale), reducing cleaning time. It provides high resistance to cracking, porosity, and hydrogen embrittlement, maintaining excellent performance even on rusted or scaled surfaces.

• Mechanical Properties: The weld has high impact toughness (Charpy V-Notch Impact), tensile strength, and hardness, suitable for harsh conditions. Low residual stress, reducing deformation.

• Usage Advantages: The active flux is insensitive to contaminants, suitable for mass production and high-efficiency scenarios. It performs best after drying (300-350℃, 2 hours) and supports extended applications such as electroslag welding.

• Storage and Usage Notes: Store in a sealed container to avoid moisture. Dry before use to optimize performance. Compliant with international welding standards, easy to integrate into automated production lines.

• Competitive Advantages: Compared with ESAB OK 10.81 or Lincoln 761, it offers similar or better slag detachability and high-speed welding performance, suitable for welding small and medium-sized containers with high cost-effectiveness.
